[Sidenote: I am back to writing after a 2-week hiatus. No, I’m not out for a holiday but rather, I was battling a raging fever. Thank you in advance for reading my story.]

Whenever I read in the news about the spiking numbers of dengue fever cases, I often scoff at those report and wonder if the journalists are simply bloating the figures up to present a rather compelling scoop.

You know, local news in Singapore is boring. Everything is stable and safe. There’s nothing sensational to report or complain about.

It’s only a fever. How bad can it be?

That was what I thought until an eager Aedes mosquito decides to get acquainted with me.

Love at first bite

It all began on a Saturday right after I knock off from work. I had a quick game of badminton with my friends.

I felt strangely exhausted in the middle of the game. Perhaps, I rushed from work and was probably feeling a little drained out. Anyway, I ignored the fatigue and kept on shuttling.

Only when I returned home did I felt like my whole body was being assaulted; every muscle fiber in my body ached like never before, right up to my eyeballs.
