Trading Your Life For Convenience

Why I think convenience is a distraction

--

Today, I listened to Dead Kennedy’s album Give Me Convenience or Give Me Death.

It has been ages since I jam out on punk rock music. My first exposure was in my teenage years, thanks to some musical paraphernalia lying around my grandmother's house which I am fairly certain are belongings of my uncle.

I don’t have many possessions when I was young save for the usual hand-me-downs. My parents are always out working, busy putting food on the table.

Money was hard to come by and hiring a caretaker was out of the question. So I ended up staying with my grandmother, a typical arrangement for every kid I know growing up in the 80s.

What is Punk Rock?

On the surface, one might assume that punk rock is a musical subgenre that manifests into a rebellious culture centered around rule-breaking and resisting orders.

But many are mistaken about what it actually represents.
