Time and routine

Two of the important factors that rule our lives

I went for a jog right after work.

I have been trying this routine for a while now whenever I can squeeze some available time. I realised that I missed the structure that my previous corporate life has offered me, but that doesn’t mean that I seek comfort in the monotony which routines presents to us.

What I need is a sweet spot, a sort of varied routine.

I am currently trying to adopt a daily regime. A10-minute triune development of the mental, physical and spiritual.

10 minutes

I tried to reason out the duration and found that a 10-minute activity is just right for me. Anything more or less and I’ll get overwhelmed or fall into contempt.

This is how I start off so far:

  • Jogging
  • Supplemental prayer
  • Reading & Podcasts

To have structure is important in our lives. Without it, our lives will simply be ruled by chaos and uncertainty.

Podcasts are an important part of my jogs and I usually load up to Jim Rohn, Dr. Eric Thomas, and Jim Kwik. Tuning to them is like a virtual coach to inspire me to go for the extra push to perform my best.

Day 8

Today feels like the same day at the same location, except that it wasn’t.

While I was jogging, I have a sudden flashback on my late father while he took his final breath. Memories of his passing kept on recurring, prompting me to run as hard as I could.

And then, I heard Dr. ET’s voice in the background.

“The most important commodity in our lives is time. Time for work, time for love…”

We all have the same 24 hours every day.

Yet time is relative. It can either be stretched or conform according to how we live every single day.

I understood the presence of time and often felt at a loss on where to channel my precious time to.

Shall I give it all to grow my business?

Or perhaps my freelance writing?

Or maybe devote my time in searching for a life partner?

Either way, I know that time steadily ticks, like the throbbing heartbeat in my oxytocin body.
