This is very subjective to me. Money, like any other resource, needs to be invested consciously. I would say it is generally okay to dive in ONCE you have done your homework.

I would echo out and agree that part of entrepreneurship is about learning what we don't know along the way. I hope your friend recovers from the painful episode and try again.
