Playing catch up at the cinema
Last Friday afternoon, I went to a cinema with a friend just to hang out and have coffee. The concept of going to the movies with friends is a strange form of activity which nowadays, we gradually accept and associate it as a form of socialising. There is no communication aside from being reminded to switch off your mobile devices and tone our voices down, before we stare at the giant canvas.
The latest movie from Walt Disney’s Marvel: Ant Man and his partner-in-crime The Wasp, is a very light-hearted movie and should appeal to all age group. Don’t worry, I’m not going to reveal anything.
The main protagonist, Scott Lang (Ant Man) has a very positive attitude. He is definitely one of the Avengers who has an ability to shrink himself, has a big heart and cared for his daughter. Despite being a former burglar, Scott has a group of non-superpower friends whom he can rely on although they messed up a couple of times.
Here are some of the lessons which we can learn from Scott.
- Be distracted with yourself and stop thinking on things that has already happened. There is no point brooding over spilt milk. Instead, make do with what you have and enjoy the process.
- His wife left him. He went to jail. He has no future. He had every reason to fail in life but he persist from returning to his former path. Yet, fate seems to bring him together with one of the most reputable man Hank Pym, and ended up falling in love with his daughter, Hope. Also, he seems to have everything under control now.
- No matter what your circumstances are, remember those who went out on a limb for you and repay their good deeds. Scott remembers his people in times of need and never turn his back on them.
Movies are made to entertain. However, we can still draw inspirations from them. Just like how our ancestors used to tell stories of myths and lore over a great campfire.
P. S. Readers, I’d appreciate any kind of criticisms to improve on my writing. Please leave a reply if you think I can do with some.
