Letting Go At The Right Time

A lesson about moving on

Letting go is hard.

It requires a strong, rational mind and of course being at peace with one’s mistakes.

Call me selfish or silly, but sometimes I need more than a second opinion to nudge me out of my self-idealized fantasy.

To let go of the things we own are definitely tough. We tend to attach memories or associate feelings to our possessions, so much so that we treasure our ornaments and view it as an intrinsic piece of art.

Taking a quote from the movie Fight Club,

“The things you own end up owning you. It’s only after you lose everything that you’re free to do anything.” — Chuck Palahniuk

And it is especially heartbreaking when we have devoted our time, efforts and money on it.

From clinging on to a stale relationship, watching an eye-gouging lousy movie to the end because we paid for the tickets, to pumping more money on our bleeding businesses because we are heavily invested — or deluded, in it.

We humans think that we are logical creatures, yet we are full of denial.

Moving on to better pastures
