Backpacking Japan in 14+ Days

Using the JR Tourist Pass

After some time, I have decided to write a post on my backpacking trip in Japan (2018), covering both Hokkaido and the mainland, Honshu.

[We went on a shoestring budget and didn’t do much shopping, save for food and snacks to bring home. Our main objective is to explore as much as we can in the 2 weeks that we have and learn a little about the Japanese way of life and perhaps improve ourselves in the process.

I hope that this info finds you well. I have also included the costs (in Singapore Dollars) at the end of the post for your reference.]

Day 1

Destination: Sapporo, Hokkaido

We touched down at roughly 2:15 pm local time. The snow glistened, reflecting golden sunbeams at all directions as I peered outside the full height glass of Shin-Chitose Airport. My entire back was aching after enduring a 7-hour economy flight from Singapore.

Touchdown! A view outside Shin-Chitose Airport

We made past the customs, proceeded to check out our bags and navigate our way around the terminal to collect our Pocket Wi-Fi and our JR Train passes.
