Experience of being Single

--

The year was 2010. Cupid turns out to be a woman who shares the same aloof behaviour as me.

We met through a chance encounter under the apartment void deck while I was on a cautious prowl, feeding stray cats. She made a dramatic appearance by lunging out from one of those poster-riddled columns.

“Soooo, you’re the guy who has been feeding the strays?”

“Erm, no. This is my first time feeding them and by the way, these cats are neighbours, not strays.” I lied.

Being around strangers forced me to.

From the moment she entered my life, I knew things wouldn’t last. We are like a circle peg in a square hole. She has a fondness for wearing sundresses while I’m a sneakers guy. She ended conversations with “meow” while I said “ok” whenever I’m about to say something. I nibbled on treats but she can chug a full meal and incredibly still maintain her feline-like physique.

Regardless, we hooked up. As all cat people do.

Long story short, we entered into a relationship without much effort. Things naturally slide downhill, and we parted without any closure. So I question where I did wrong, which indirectly sabotages my own self-worth during my youth.
