A guy’s take on Bullet Journaling

How to improve your life with a notebook, minus the glitter and fluff

Although the main founder of Bullet Journal Ryder Carroll is a guy, the #bujo community (affectionately known) is dominated by females, resulting in a feminine-oriented collective which heavily expresses on creativity.

I’ve seen how the community glorifies these notebooks as a form of personal expression. Simply Google it and you can see a lot of creative ideas floating around on the Web as well as on social media; you see ladies nursing their notebooks with glitter, washi tapes and dried flowers.

The journal departs from its functionality and becomes a delicate work of art. It’s not exactly an instrument where you’d prefer to scribble down your mental gunk.

I have practised journaling for about 3 years now. I prefer to align it to something practical, like a captain’s log for a ship. It serves as a record on how I spend my time and what are things that are needed to get done.
